Bepro is a key partner of the KFA and their associated competitions. Through our data, video and analysis tools we have helped the federation, affiliated teams and players of all levels improve their performances. We work with the KFA to improve results, both within national leagues and internationally with the South Korean youth teams. A key focus of this partnership involves the development of the country’s young football talent.
KFA Golden Pass Project with Bepro
This ongoing project identifies and develops the best young players across the nation’s U15-U18 international teams. We provide data covering technical, tactical, physical and mental performances, alongside video to benchmark and measure performance across these youth sides.
Since 2014, the Korean Football Association has been undergoing a quiet revolution in its approach to youth development through its Golden Age program. Created to improve the quality of player coming through each age group and ultimately boost the senior South Korean squad, the KFA benchmarked the German, French and Dutch youth systems and began to more closely measure performances through performance data. The Golden age program saw 30–40 of the best U13–15 players selected through an intensive screening process each year.
Last year (2019), the KFA took another step in their mission to identify and develop talent for their international sides with the introduction of the Golden Pass program. This project has resulted in the creation of a data management platform that brings together data points and insights from six different areas (Technique / Intelligence / Physical / Spirit / Specialty / Profile). This year Bepro was selected to become the KFA’s Golden Pass partner.
In partnership with the KFA, Bepro provides a web-based platform to provide performance measurement through data and video. This is used to index player performances and manage player progress as individuals move through each age group.
The program is paying off on the pitch. The South Korean U20 Men’s team came second in the last U20 FIFA Men’s World Cup in Poland with 18 of the 21 (86%) players having graduated through the Golden Age program. Similarly, the nation’s U17 men’s side reached the final eight at the last U17 FIFA Men’s World Cup with every one of the 21 players in the squad being part of the Golden Age program.
“Golden Pass is an essential part of our federation’s youth development program. It allows us to manage and track all young players as we aim to create a group of world class players across age groups, up to the senior side. We have taken a more scientific, data-driven approach to our national youth development and Bepro have been a crucial partner in this process. We are confident of achieving even more success together.”
